Galway Traveller Movement is a local community organisation made up of people from the Traveller and settled communities in Galway that works from Community Development principles and methods with an anti poverty, anti exclusion focus. This involves and enables people to work together to influence change and exert control over the social, political and economic issues that affect their lives.
-Our work has a collective focus rather than a response to individual issues
-Challenges unequal power relationships within society
-Our work is based on participative processes and structures, which include and empower marginalized and excluded groups in society
-It is based on solidarity with the interests of those experiencing social exclusion.
-We aim to confront prejudice and discrimination on the basis of gender, ethnicity, class, religion, socio-economic status, age, sexuality, skin colour or disability.
