Students wishing to participate must demonstrate high academic ability and be in the top 5%, or 95th percentile, (STEN 9 or 10) based on standardised tests carried out annually in primary schools (Drumcondra, SIGMA-T or MICRA-T).
If your child is in 3rd class and going into 4th class in September 2019 they are not eligible to apply.
If your child is in 6th class and going into 1st year in September 2019 they are eligible to apply
If you are successfull in your application you will be contacted regarding fee payment afterwards. Due to popular demand and limited number of places, not all applicants will receive a place. Applications are offered on a first come first served basis.
If you have a medial card you are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Please apply via the online application form by entering your medical card details. Not all who apply for a scholarship will be successful. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis so it is advisable to book early.
You need to send proof of your child's test results to support their application. Test results need to be emailed to youthacademy@nuigalway.ie after you have completed the online application form. The form will be available on our website in early June
Eligibility to attend our summer camps is based on your child's most recent test result. If results from 2019 are not back before the closing date you can use last years results (2018).
If the results are stated on their school report card you can:
1. Scan, ensuring their name and result are clearly visible, and email a copy to youthacademy@nuigalway.ie
2. Take a photograph, ensuring their name and test result are clearly visible, and email it to youthacademy@nuigalway.ie
3. Photocopy, making sure to include your child's name as stated on the application, and post to Geraldine Marley, Youth Academy, NUI Galway, Galway
If results are not stated on their school report card:
Ask your school to give you something on headed paper stating your childs name and result and either scan or post as above.
Applications for the summer camp are now closed
